Heya.... My Furrbie had a second sudden nose bleed this afternoon while he was grooming himself.... It's profuse bleeding where u can see him trying to breath with his mouth and sneezing out the blood and splattering it everywhere...... It's the first time I feel so helpless for I can't do anything for him. I thought he was going to die! I haven't changed anything in his tank, used the same bedding and accessories. The bleeding finally stopped and he was exhausted and fell asleep. Later the day, he got up and cleaned himself. I've moved him into quarantine and hopes he dosent pass on anything to my other 2 males, Chubbie n Kent. I think Furrbie smells a little bad too. Oh... He's my first gerb rescued from SPCA. Sigh... he recently lost his teeth and I hand fed him for a week. He's so sweet too. I hope he recovers.

Was it really blood? I read somewhere that gerbils have red mucus and looks a bit like blood.... but then I dunno how it looks like.
Hope Furbie gets well soon!!

Furbbie's doing well and I have put him back into the split tank with the his ex-companions.... But an unfortunate this happened.... his tail went thru the divider and was bitten off by Chubbie the Alph Dove male.

Furrbie does sound as if he has a bad allergy to something, possibly his bedding but it's odd for him to start having nosebleeds now, when you havn't changed the bedding or anything... mebbe it was a change in temperature that caused the nosebleed?

The climate here is pretty constant..... temperature range from 28 to 34 deg cel..... I wish I knew..... However.... he's behaving fine now.... no more nose bleed......
