Furrbie barely stayed in the split tank for 30mins and his tail was bitten off by his ex-mate, Chubbie. Abt 4cm or 1.5 inch of his tail was found at the other side of the divider..... I have been using this divider for 6 mths and never faces such injury. I was puzzelled and sadden. Furrbie has been thru soo many hardships! He is so unfortunate.... poor little guy. I have since cleaned his wound and as usual, bandage it up so it doesnt gets infected. Below is a summarised link n pics of his injury and the split tank. I am thankful that I did not use a wired split cage since there are more gaps and his injury might have been worst! www.dropshots.com/day.php?userid=79322&cdate=20060407As for the divider...... I am still using it. Furrbie is still in the split. However, I have filled the gaps with more stoppers so non of their tails can get thru the gaps. I hope none of yer gerbils get this kinda freak accidents.

oh no! poor Furrbie! his tail should be fine though. it won't re-grow, but furrbie will learn how to adapt to his tail quickly. The bit of bone sticking out of the tail will fall off within a couple of days. i hope that he feels better soon! and your divider looks really good! i can't understand how Chubbie would've been able to grab Furrbie's tail through! things like this do happen though sometimes, but they are pretty rare. good luck with intro-ing them. it might be that you'll never be able to get them back together again (once blood is shed, it is unusual for 2 gerbils to get along) but good luck still
